Astralis successfully defended their ECS title with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over MIBR in the grand final of Season 6.
The Brazilian team, still looking for their first Big Title of 2018, gave Astralis a run for their money but could not repeat their performance from the Group A decider match. Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's troops will be kicking themselves after wasting a clear-cut chance to force overtime on Inferno and four map points on Overpass, but this final appearance should still come as a massive boost of confidence, rekindling a fire that had been smoldering for quite some time.
The veto showed just how confident Astralis are in their map pool. Inferno had cost them the group match against MIBR, but they still straight up picked that map, their confidence boosted after the 16-5 rout against Ninjas in Pyjamas on Saturday.
The Danish team jumped out to a 2-0 lead on the offensive side but then lost an anti-eco round after Nicolai "device" Reedtz was caught off-guard near the B entrance. A chaotic period ensued as rounds went back and forth, but then Astralis put their foot down and took control of proceedings to take a 6-2 lead.
FalleN, who had already pulled off a 1v2 clutch in the fifth round, spearheaded MIBR's recovery, picking up an ace in the 11th round, but Astralis still won the half on the back of a sensational quad-kill by Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen inside B.
Astralis came out of the break with all guns blazing and won five rounds in a row to bring the scoreline to 13-7. With no room for error, the Brazilians dug deep, winning six of the following seven rounds, but then device finally woke up, inspiring his team to reach map point with two key kills inside B.
Marcelo "coldzera" David gave MIBR's fans some hope as he clutched a 1v2, forcing a 30th round and resetting Astralis' economy. It looked like overtime was on the cards, but then the Danes defied the odds and won a round with nothing but pistols thanks to a quad kill by Emil "Magisk" Reif with the CZ.

MIBR's Overpass pick seemed odd to many: the Brazilians had not yet played it at this tournament and had won just one of the last four games on this map at Big Events. Many expected the Brazilians to have some sort of surprise prepared for this game, but they endured a slow start to the map, losing the first three rounds.
FalleN's men then responded on a very weak buy, and they rode that momentum to carve out a 7-3 lead. Astralis were unwilling to let the game ebb away, though, and battled back to bring the deficit to just one round before the end of the half.
Now playing on the CT side, Astralis won the pistol round and the following anti-eco to take the lead for the first time since the start of the map. Once MIBR had money to work with, though, the landscape of the game changed immediately, with the Brazilians going on a fantastic run to make it 15-11.
device turned the hero in the following round as he clutched a 1v2 with a Scout and a USP to keep his team in the game. That round ended up swinging the tide back in the Danes' favour, with Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's troops winning the remaining rounds of the half to force overtime.
The first overtime could not determine a winner as both teams won two rounds on the offensive side. Astralis then came out the brighter of the two sides and took the lead with a strong T display. Tarik "tarik" Celik still gave MIBR a lifeline with a massive 1v4 clutch, to which gla1ve responded with a quad kill of his own, putting Astralis on championship point and leaving the Brazilians with no money to contest the game anymore.
